Midsommar Field

As I continued exploring embroidery, I discovered that fashion designer Dominika Syczynska was hosting a haute couture embroidery workshop in Warsaw. I thought, why not? It would be the perfect opportunity to revisit Warsaw while learning her beautiful 3D embroidery techniques.

So I signed up and travelled from Stockholm to Poland for a weekend, attending her six-hour workshop. Surrounded by incredibly talented women, I began a piece inspired by Nur Rydberg’s (@nurpan_art) enchanting Midsommar Night artwork. Since it was my first time learning these 3D techniques, I had no clear vision of how the final piece would evolve. I simply trusted my instincts and let the embroidery guide me.

The piece was started in Warsaw in April 2026 and completed a month later in Sigtuna, Sweden, in May 2026. It grew into a field of wildflowers, celebrating the beauty and magic of Midsummer.

This embroidery holds a special place in my heart for more than one reason. Returning to Poland after 18 years brought back memories of my first visit. And it was during a Midsummer night, also 18 years ago, that I realized Joni—my partner in crime—was the love of my life.
